The past week

Time flies when you’re having fun.

Lagos was amazing, definitely my favourite place on this trip so far. However it’s only the beginning, so many more places to see!

Sun, sand, beach, party, kayaking and adventure.

We headed off to Sintra next, which is just out of Lisbon. We spent one day walking around seeing the moorish castle and the Palace of Pena, which were beautiful to see. Although a LOT of walking…

We only stayed one night in Sintra before catching an overnight train to San Sebastián. We had originally planned to go to Santander first but we had trouble booking accommodation there so changed our plans.

The overnight train seriously sucked this time around because there was trouble with the tracks, so at 1am everyone was told to get off and get on a bus to drive for two hours to the border, we then jumped on another train for the rest of the trip. At 3am I was not happy!

When we arrived the weather was actually pretty horrible; cloudy, raining and very cold (what are you meant to do when you’re in a beach town but the weather sucks?! The answer is laundry -_-). We got to our hostel only to find out that the hostel we had booked at was sold out (even though we booked?!), so they were moving us to a new location. Which sucks because we booked the hostel due to the ratings and reviews, we wanted the social atmosphere. This new location is in a nicer part of San Seb but it wasn’t very social and there’s no hostel manager that stays on site to talk to when things happen (so much stuff has happened and we’re just like ‘cool, can’t tell anyone’). There was no wifi (we nearly died the one day we didn’t have this…), a lot of things missing, hostel guys were not helpful at all!

San Seb has been a bit of a downer because of all of those things, the weather and lack of sleep have definitely contributed to that though.
However we went to a 4th of July party tonight with two American girls which was fun; well we had fun, but the actually party was pretty sucky.

Our own party ended with a midnight swim at the beach. Talk about crazy ladies.
